KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Body Advocating Rights (Sabar) has described the recent High Court ruling on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement as timely, coinciding with the eve of the 17th Sabah Election.

In a statement on Sunday, Sabar urged politicians and aspiring candidates to take the judgment seriously, calling it a defining moment for Sabah’s constitutional rights.

The group congratulated the Sabah Law Society (SLS) and its legal team for their perseverance since 2021 in pursuing justice on a pro bono basis, saying Sabahans owed them gratitude for acting without fear or favour.

Sabar said the ruling vindicated decades of advocacy and marked a historic victory for the people of Sabah in reaffirming the State’s constitutional guarantees.

It added that Sabar was ready to support both the State Government and SLS in implementing the judgment, particularly in computing the 40 per cent entitlement for the “lost years.”
