AGRICULTURE, Fishery and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, his Assistant Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam and Sabah Paddy and Rice Board (LPBS) General Manager Datuk Dr Ramle Kasin show high-quality paddy seedlings at a paddy field in Sekinchan, Selangor, recently.
Jamawi said efforts to transform and modernise Sabah’s agriculture sector continued to be strengthened through a Rice Cultivation and Crop Management Course held at the Sekinchan paddy fields.
According to a Facebook post by LPBS, the programme, held from 9am to 5pm, aimed to impart best practices and systematic paddy field management techniques from farmers in Sekinchan for adoption in Sabah.
As a follow-up, he said the next training session would be held in Kota Belud in the near future, drawing on the expertise and hands-on experience of Sekinchan rice farmers to help optimise local production yields.
He stressed that the initiative reflected the continued commitment of the State Government and relevant agencies to strengthening food security and advancing Sabah’s rice cultivation industry in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda.
