High-school bullies arrested for assaulting school-mate

PETALING JAYA: Four Sarawakian students have been arrested today (June 21) on suspicion of attacking another student at a secondary school.

Free Malaysia Today (FMT) quoted Kota Samarahan District Police Chief DSP Brodie Brangka as saying that the students form a secondary school in Sarawak were detained after the victim lodged a police report on Monday evening.

Brodie said the victim, a Form 1 student, was assaulted by four male students from the same school.

“Initial investigations revealed the incident took place behind a shop lot in Taman Desa Permai, Kota Samarahan,” he said in a statement.

“All the suspects were taken to the Kota Samarahan police headquarters for investigation and further action.”

The case is currently being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which is punishable for up to a one year jail term or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, if convicted.

He also advised the public to not share the recording and refrain from speculating about the incident to avoid disrupting the ongoing investigation.

The viral video which irked netizens had shown the victim being assaulted by the suspects brutally.
