PENAMPANG: A higher education institution to benefit Borneo’s indigenous people (Orang Asli) was among suggestions at the recent United Nations International Day of the World’s Indigenous People event at Hongkod Koisaan.
The leaders at the events said there is a need to raise a generation of intellectual Dayak thinkers in Borneo to build a glorious civilisation by unifying various indigenous peoples.
The two-day event was conducted mostly in Malay among participants from Brunei, Kalimantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
Sarawak’s Dayak National Congress head Paul Raja lauded Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau’s recent statement in defence of Malaysia’s multi-racial and religious foundation in response to Tun Dr Mahathir’s “Tanah Melayu” narrative.
