A male foreign national was apprehended by the Johor police after he allegedly smashed the rear windscreen of another vehicle on the North South Expressway, near Kilometre 139.6.

According to CP M Kumar, the Johor police chief, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested the man, believed to be in his 40s, around 3:30 am near Genting Highlands. The authorities also seized a vehicle in connection with the incident.

"The suspect has been placed under a three-day remand starting today, as investigations continue under Section 427 of the Penal Code," Kumar stated in a released statement.

The arrest was prompted by reports indicating the police's pursuit of a Mitsubishi Lancer driver suspected of involvement in a road rage incident resulting in the shattering of a vehicle's rear windscreen on Saturday.

Following the incident, which occurred around 2:36 pm, a report was filed after a 54-second video depicting the altercation was shared on Facebook by the account Apple Kenzo. — Bernama

Expanding on the incident, road rage continues to be a concerning issue on highways, posing threats to road users' safety. Law enforcement agencies play a crucial role in swiftly addressing such incidents to uphold public safety and ensure justice is served.

Furthermore, it's essential for authorities to investigate such incidents thoroughly to understand the underlying causes and implement preventive measures. Additionally, raising awareness about road safety and promoting responsible driving behaviors can help mitigate the occurrence of road rage incidents.

Moreover, this incident underscores the significance of utilizing available technology and social media platforms to report and address unlawful activities promptly. The quick dissemination of information through social media channels enables law enforcement agencies to respond efficiently and apprehend suspects effectively.

In conclusion, addressing road rage incidents requires a collaborative effort from law enforcement agencies, road users, and the community at large. By promoting a culture of respect and understanding on the roads, we can create safer and more harmonious driving environments for everyone.
