Both entities remain committed to the development of professional football in Malaysia through a strong grassroots football structure
Madrid, May 31, 2024.- In a landmark move for international football collaboration, LALIGA proudly hosted the visit of a high-profile delegation from the Hijau Kuning FC (HKFC), from June 22 to 31, leading by HKFC President Mr. Muhammad Talhah Zainol and management team, Insp PDRM FC Manager Mr. Shamshul Hisham, PDRM FC CFO DSP Mohd Hasrulrizal Shah and two coaches from the HKFC Academy structure Mr. Rafdi Abdul Rashid and Mr. Mohd Firdaus Ahmad. The visit has been a significant boost to the purpose of both entities, committed to the development of professional football in Malaysia through solid grassroots football structures, in a framework of continuous learning and exchange of expertise.
During their stay in Spain, HKFC coaches have participated in training workshops provided by LALIGA. Furthermore, the delegation also had the opportunity to hold working meetings with various departments of LALIGA in the search for synergies in different structures of the sports industry, visited Atletico Madrid, Getafe CF, Real Valladolid, also the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, and attended the LALIGA EA SPORTS match between Getafe CF and RCD Mallorca. Furthermore, the delegation was able to attend first-hand the ESC LALIGA & NBA Centre, where LALIGA ACADEMY develops part of its grassroots projects in the capital of Spain. They also visited other LALIGA projects in Madrid such as "LEGENDS: The Home of Football" - a collection of historical football pieces unique in the world -.
This visit represents the mutual commitment of both organizations, which signed an agreement in Madrid in 2022 for the development of grassroots football. Since then, LALIGA and HKFC have been promoting international cooperation and cultural and sporting exchange, also with the support of several LALIGA EA SPORTS clubs, such as CD Leganes, which visited the Malaysian club and organized a camp for their players in 2023. Together with other projects such as the visit of LALIGA coaches for a workshop dedicated to HKFC coaches in Alor Star, these workshops in Spain have been a testament to the ongoing efforts to strengthen the ties between LALIGA and Malaysian football, supporting the development of the sport on a global scale.
