Kota Kinabalu: Sabah People’s Human Rights Association President Lee Pun Yee pointed out that in November last year, he reported a collapse of the hill road on Luyang East Road, uphill Jesselton View apartments.
He had asked the Kota Kinabalu Engineering Department to repair the road immediately.
According to him, on Feb 10, he finally received a call from an engineer from the Kota Kinabalu Engineering Department who told him that the collapsed hill road problem along the said road had been submitted to the chief engineer for discussion.
“Finally, there is good news that the collapsed hill road will be completed by the end of this year, and now we are just waiting for the allocation to be distributed.
“I also think that restoring this road must be different from restoring normal roads. After all, this road is a hill road, and the usage fee will be very high.
“The engineering department needs to use different plans and technologies to improve the road quality to meet the existing traffic flow requirements and load-bearing requirements to ensure that there will be no collapse during heavy rains.
“So now we are just waiting for the relevant units to distribute the funds before starting work,” he said.
“The engineer involved could not give a date, and could only promise to complete the project by the end of this year.”
