
The Department of Women and Child Development, Dharampur, organised a one-day exposure visit for 42 adolescent girls from Government Senior Secondary School, Sandhol, under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme in Mandi.
The initiative aimed to provide practical knowledge about the functioning of government institutions, financial literacy, women’s safety and various public welfare services.
Child Development Project Officer, Dharampur, Dhani Ram, said such programmes are designed to build confidence among adolescent girls and make them aware of the services and opportunities available in society. He emphasised that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is not limited to promoting girls’ education but also focuses on their overall development, safety and empowerment.
As part of the exposure visit, the participants visited the Sandhol Post Office. During the session, Ramesh Kumar explained the various savings schemes offered by the postal department, financial inclusion initiatives and the importance of postal services in everyday life. The programme also received support from supervisor Puran Chand and the Anganwadi workers concerned.
