The Dadasiba police in Dehra of Kangra district solved a temple theft case within two hours of a complaint filed on Friday. Baldev Singh, priest of the Sherawali Mata temple at Dadasiba, found the temple locks broken early Friday morning when he came to perform routine pooja at 5.30 am. He found gold and artificial jewellery of the temple idol missing along with various other articles and cash.

The temple priest immediately intimated a local police team that was on patrolling duty in the area. The police arrived at the temple and after examining circumstantial evidence, suspected the involvement of a local youth in the theft. They rounded up Lucky, who during interrogation confessed to his involvement in the theft.

SP, Dehra, Mayank Chaudhary said that the police conducted a search in Lucky’s house in the presence of local people and recovered the articles and jewellery stolen from the temple. He said that the accused had been arrested and an FIR under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita had been registered against him.
