Lahaul and Spiti has established Himachal Pradesh’s first Pink Counting Centre for the panchayat samiti and zila parishad elections.

Set up at the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Keylong, the centre is managed exclusively by women. From counting supervisors and assistants to support staff, all election responsibilities have been entrusted to female personnel to promote women’s representation and highlight their capability in election management.

Under the supervision of the election authorities, vote counting proceeded smoothly, with strict measures in place to ensure transparency, efficiency and adherence to guidelines. Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kiran Bhadana noted that the initiative reflects the state’s efforts to encourage women’s involvement in governance and public administration. “The counting process remained peaceful and orderly throughout the day, with staff carrying out their duties efficiently,” Bhadana said.
