FORMER UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has indicated he is prepared to resume his role in strengthening the party should his membership suspension be revoked.

The Sembrong Member of Parliament said he was moved and grateful to UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after the party signalled that it was prepared to reopen its doors to former members who had been expelled or suspended.

Hishammuddin said returning to the party would not be a difficult decision for him, despite having been under suspension for six years beginning in January 2023.

“In the three years I have been suspended, I have never left the party,” he said.

“If they are truly sincere and withdraw the suspension, I will return to fight within UMNO, close ranks in UMNO Sembrong and UMNO Johor, to empower and strengthen the cherished party UMNO,” he added. - March 13, 2026
