Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stresses the importance of preserving Malaysia’s history, culture and national identity amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI)
KUALA LUMPUR: A deeper appreciation of history is crucial to ensuring that rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI) do not erode the nation’s values, culture and identity, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
He said history should not be treated merely as a subject to be memorised, but understood and appreciated as a foundation for shaping national identity, strengthening patriotism and fostering a sense of belonging to the country.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said he had emphasised this when chairing the National Historians Council (MSN) meeting at Parliament House today.
He said the council had an important role to play in safeguarding the nation’s historical heritage and serving as a key reference point for matters relating to the country’s history.
Anwar stressed that Malaysia’s history must be preserved through factual accuracy and credible research, while being presented in fresh and engaging ways that resonate with younger generations.
Such efforts are essential to ensuring that future generations remain grounded in their national identity as the country moves forward, he said.
