
Kota Kinabalu: This year’s DBKK Strongman (Novice) champion Hizad Hazalan is set to lead the local challenge at the Labuan Strongestman/woman and Ninja Warrior Challenge 2023, which will be held at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex on September 15-17 from 8am-11pm.
The 24-year-old from Labuan with a 112kg body weight is the latest to register together with fellow islanders Azlan Tumingan and Desmond Chan.
The competition is organised by Motac Labuan and event coordinator Roger Frederick said apart from local interests, some foreign entries have also confirmed their participation.
According to him, Hanis Daud, Sazuwan Ali and Waiz Daud are three from Brunei who have registered and more are expected including three from Singapore, one man and one woman team from Indonesia and two from Hong Kong as well as more from Brunei and those from the Peninsula.

In the strongest man category, the champions will get RM3,500. Second prize is RM2,000, third
RM1,200, fourth RM700, fifth RM400 and sixth RM300.
The winner in the strongest woman category will receive RM1,500 while the second place winner will get RM1,000 followed by RM700, RM500, RM300 and RM200 for the third to sixth place finishers.
In the warrior challenge event, cash prizes are RM2,000 for the champions. RM1,500 for second and RM1,000 for third place finish.
Fourth prize is RM500, fifth and sixth place will receive RM300 and RM200 respectively while RM50 each will be given to those who finish in seventh to 15th places.
Registration fee for the strongest event is RM250 for Malaysian and RM350 for non-Malaysian in the men’s open and RM150 in the women’s novice.
The warrior challenge is only open to 50 entries and registration fee is RM50 with additional RM25 for T-shirts.
