Travellers visiting Malaysia can now enjoy a taste of the country’s beloved kopitiam culture with an exclusive dining privilege, thanks to a new partnership between homegrown brand Hock Kee Kopitiam and five-star hotel Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur.
Announced on 12 October, the collaboration aims to introduce international visitors to authentic Malaysian flavours while supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.
As part of the first phase, guests staying at Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur will be introduced to Hock Kee Kopitiam, where they can enjoy a 10% dining privilege at all Hock Kee outlets nationwide.
The partnership brings together two brands located in the heart of Bukit Bintang, one of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest tourism districts, offering travellers an opportunity to discover Malaysia’s food heritage beyond their hotel experience.

Bringing Malaysian Kopitiam Culture to International Travellers
For many Malaysians, kopitiams are more than just places to enjoy a meal. They represent a unique part of the country’s food culture, where people from different backgrounds gather over familiar dishes and conversations.
Through this collaboration, Hock Kee Kopitiam hopes to introduce that experience to more international travellers, highlighting the diversity, warmth and togetherness that define Malaysian hospitality.
Founded in Johor Bahru in 2018, Hock Kee Kopitiam has grown into a halal-certified Malaysian kopitiam brand known for serving freshly prepared local favourites, including nasi lemak, laksa and traditional kopi.
Guided by its philosophy of “One Table, All Malaysians”, the brand currently operates 24 outlets across Malaysia as of September 2026.

Nick Ng, Founder of Hock Kee Kopitiam, said the partnership represents another step towards making Malaysian cuisine more accessible to visitors.
“As a Strategic Partner of Visit Malaysia 2026-2027, we are committed to making Malaysian flavours and kopitiam culture more accessible to visitors,” he said.
He added that the collaboration would allow Hock Kee to extend its dining experience beyond its existing outlets and become part of a traveller’s journey in Malaysia.
Signature Laksa Could Soon Be Served at Grand Millennium KL
Beyond the initial 10% dining privilege, both brands are exploring additional collaborations to further enhance the visitor experience.
Among the possibilities being discussed is a jointly curated package for hotel guests, alongside plans to potentially introduce selected Hock Kee favourites, including its signature laksa, into Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s dining offerings.
The partnership may also expand into cross-brand promotions, joint marketing campaigns and tourism-related activities designed to connect visitors with Malaysian food and culture.
However, these initiatives remain under consideration and will be introduced progressively as the partnership develops.

Jim Khoo, General Manager of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur, said the collaboration would help create more meaningful experiences for hotel guests.
He explained that being located in Bukit Bintang provides an opportunity to introduce both local and international visitors to Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant culture, flavours and stories.
The hotel hopes visitors will leave Malaysia not only with memories of their accommodation but also with a deeper appreciation of the country’s heritage and culinary traditions.
Malaysia Welcomed 28.8 Million International Visitors in Eight Months
The collaboration also comes as Malaysia continues to attract international visitors ahead of further tourism initiatives under Visit Malaysia 2026–2027.
According to Mohd Akbal Setia, Deputy Director General (Promotions) and Head of the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 Secretariat at Tourism Malaysia, the country welcomed 28.8 million international visitors between January and August 2026.

He said Malaysia’s tourism efforts should not focus solely on attracting more visitors but also on encouraging them to experience the country’s unique cultural identity.
Food, he noted, plays an important role in showcasing Malaysia’s diversity, with kopitiam culture reflecting the warmth and togetherness of Malaysian society.
Tourism Malaysia also welcomed collaborations such as the partnership between Hock Kee Kopitiam and Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur, which help bring local culinary heritage closer to international visitors.
More Malaysian Food Experiences Ahead
The partnership marks the beginning of a longer-term collaboration between the two brands, combining Hock Kee’s expertise in Malaysian dining with Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s hospitality experience.
Located in Bukit Bintang, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur features 468 guestrooms, including 16 suites, and offers convenient access to popular shopping destinations such as Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Starhill Gallery and Lot 10.
With Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 highlighting the country’s cultural diversity and tourism offerings, both brands hope to make Malaysian cuisine a memorable part of every traveller’s experience.
Further collaborations and guest offerings are expected to be announced progressively.
