
MANILA, Philippines — The Hollywood Walk of Fame has given fans a first glimpse of Lea Salonga’s star ahead of the historic ceremony where the Filipina theater icon will become the first Filipina to receive the prestigious honor.
The official Hollywood Walk of Fame Instagram account shared a photo of the unfinished star, featuring Salonga’s name and the theater masks emblem associated with the category of live theater.
The star will be officially unveiled during a ceremony on Sept. 4 at 11:30 a.m. Pacific time (2:30 a.m. in Manila on Sept. 5) at 6225 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the historic Pantages Theatre.
Fans planning to attend have been instructed to line up across the street from the ceremony site, next to Dunkin’ Donuts on the east side of Argyle Avenue.
Entertainment journalist and television personality Sibley Scoles will host the ceremony, with actress Ming-Na Wen, singer Brandy, and actor Darren Criss set to join as guest speakers.
Fans can watch the ceremony through livestream, presented by media partner Variety.
Salonga’s recognition marks another milestone in her international career, which has spanned musical theater, film, television and music.
She rose to global prominence for originating the role of Kim in “Miss Saigon,” earning a Tony Award for her performance. She also became known to international audiences as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s “Aladdin” and Fa Mulan in “Mulan.”
