KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — A total of 151 control posts operated by the General Operations Force (GOF) at the country’s borders will be repaired at a total cost of RM45 million, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He said some of these control posts were in a state of disrepair with rotten floorboards.
“I have conducted checks at GOF control posts and found some to be dilapidated and no longer usable.
“We want to repair these control posts to make them more conducive and comfortable for the personnel on duty because they are deployed at strategic locations,” he said.
He was speaking at a press conference after a ceremony for handing over of duties to the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and deputy IGP at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre.
Earlier, Saifuddin Nasution pinned the ranks on IGP Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and deputy IGP Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
Saifuddin Nasution said Razarudin and Ayob Khan made a solid combination to lead the force.
He said they had shown excellent leadership and could uphold the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) reputation in maintaining the country’s public order and peace.
“I have very high hopes and confidence that PDRM under their leadership can continue with the work of Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani,” he said.
Saifuddin Nasution, in a statement yesterday, announced that Razarudin had been promoted from deputy IGP to the top post to replace Acryl Sani while Ayob Khan had been appointed as deputy IGP. — Bernama
