Home Ministry signs RM1.47 billion in defence contracts at LIMA’25

THE Home Ministry (KDN) has signed four contracts worth RM1.187 billion and submitted letters of intent (LOI) and acceptance (LOA) amounting to RM385.6 million at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25), in a major show of commitment to bolstering national security.

In a statement issued today, KDN confirmed that the agreements were formalised at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), involving both local and international firms. The total value of the procurement stands at RM1.469 billion.

Bernama cited that the ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Director-General of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah.

KDN Secretary-General Datuk Awang Alik Jeman signed on behalf of the ministry.

“A total of four contracts worth RM1.187 billion were signed and one LOI (RM298.5 million) and one LOA (RM87.099 million) were submitted, involving agencies under KDN, namely the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Royal Malaysian Police,” the ministry said.

Among the notable contracts was the acquisition of a Multi-Purpose Mission Ship (MPMS), and the completion of Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) 2 and OPV 3 for the MMEA.

Another high-value deal was signed between the MMEA and local defence firm Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn Bhd for the procurement of four medium lift helicopters, valued at RM529.662 million.

The ministry said the signing ceremony symbolises the government’s ongoing effort to enhance national defence by prioritising the acquisition of strategic assets, in line with the theme of LIMA’25 — “Today’s Innovation, Tomorrow’s Achievements.”

“KDN hopes that with this effort, it will remain committed to ensuring national security is protected,” the statement added.

It further emphasised that security readiness remains a core agenda for the ministry, particularly through procurement strategies that ensure all agencies under its purview maintain a high level of operational capability. - May 20, 2025
