THE Home Ministry is giving its full attention to implementing the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s directives concerning the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh and activist Amri Che Mat, including reopening police investigations into both cases.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the ministry’s current focus is on the court’s ruling, which clearly outlined two key directives to the police.
He added that he had received a detailed briefing from the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to understand the chronology of the incidents.
“Last Friday, I met with the team from the AGC handling this case. I needed their briefing to fully understand the sequence of events,” he said.
“So, my focus now is on the court’s order requiring the police to do two things. The first is to reopen investigations, and the second is to determine the whereabouts of Pastor Koh. These two matters are now my priority.”
He was speaking at a press conference after officiating the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDAT) event here today, in response to questions about his meeting with AGC officials following the court’s decision ordering the government to pay compensation over the two disappearance cases.
Amri was reported missing on 24 November 2016, while Pastor Koh disappeared on 13 February 2017.
On 5 November, the High Court ordered the government to pay RM3,264,457.52 in damages, costs, and interest to Amri’s wife, Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, and more than RM37 million to Pastor Koh’s wife, Susanna Liew.
The judgment followed successful lawsuits filed by both women against the government and the police over the disappearance of their husbands.
In a separate matter, Saifuddin said the police will take appropriate action to trace Indira Gandhi’s former husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, following media reports alleging that he remains in Malaysia and is benefiting from government aid schemes such as BUDI MADANI (BUDI95) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA).
“I will ensure the police take the necessary steps. At the moment, I have not yet received any official briefing on the matter, but I will request one to ensure I am fully prepared to address the public on this issue,” he said. - November 11, 2025
