The popular Honda CR-V gets revamped. No more S variant, and a more affordable E e:HEV variant are the highlights.

Honda Malaysia just refreshed the CR-V in Malaysia. The gist of it is this: they’ve removed the basic 1.5 turbocharged S variant and introduced a new e:HEV E variant as the most affordable variant of the CR-V.

The 1.5 turbocharged V mid-spec variant is now the only pure petrol model available and the only option for those looking for an all-wheel drive system. On top of that, there are additional minor changes to the equipment and trim that we shall discuss below.

  • Honda CR-V 1.5 V AWD: RM181,900
  • Honda CR-V e:HEV RS: RM195,900

New Features & Changes

The New CR-V sets a new benchmark for convenience with the debut of the Digital Key. This first-for-Honda feature in Malaysia allows owners to lock, unlock, and start the engine using their smartphone.

Inside, all variants are equipped with a 9-inch Advanced Display Audio system that features Google built-in. This integration provides hands-free assistance through Google Assistant, real-time navigation via Google Maps, and access to a wide range of apps on Google Play. Additionally, the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for effortless smartphone synchronization.

Safety remains a top priority with the inclusion of Blind Spot Information (BSI) and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) as standard features across the range. These are complemented by the comprehensive Honda SENSING suite, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow and Lane Keep Assist. A new Blazing Red Pearl colour option joins the palette, while the RS variant gains a sporty character with a darker hairline finish on the dashboard and RS-embossed leather seats.

As a reminder the hybrid CR-V comes with a 2.0L e:HEV powertrain, which produces a robust 184PS and 335Nm of torque. This system is specifically engineered to meet the demands of a premium SUV, offering a seamless blend of power and efficiency.

The powertrain automatically switches between three driving modes—EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive—to optimize performance based on real-time conditions. For drivers seeking a more tailored experience, the e:HEV variants feature an exclusive Individual Drive Mode, allowing for the personalization of driving dynamics.
