Renowned Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun Fat, affectionately known as Fat Gor (Big Brother Fat in Cantonese), displayed his unwavering determination and resilience by attending a talk at The University of Hong Kong, despite suffering injuries from a recent jogging mishap. The 68-year-old actor, known for his passion for jogging, shared his experience during the engaging discussion titled "Chow Yun Fat x Anthony Pun x Felix Chong: Discussion On Movie And Life," which took place on the campus.

The talk revolved around Chow's latest dramedy, "One More Chance" (2023), directed by Anthony Pun and written by Felix Chong. More than 300 students were given the privilege of watching the movie in a cinema before participating in the enlightening conversation with the legendary actor.

Chow opened up about the unfortunate incident that occurred during one of his routine jogging sessions just the day before the talk. He revealed that he had taken a fall, leading to scraped palms and a hairline fracture in his left rib due to the impact of the fall. Despite the advice from doctors to abstain from jogging for two months, Chow's commitment to the event at the university remained unwavering. He expressed that his strong sense of responsibility to give back to society, especially to young people, motivated him to endure the pain and attend the talk.

During the session, Chow shared his life journey, which included facing obstacles that hindered him from completing his studies at a young age. Instead, he entered the workforce early to support his family, which eventually became a profound lesson in his life. Through his experiences, he urged the students not to succumb to setbacks but rather to use adversity as a catalyst for personal growth and strength.

"There are no miracles in the world, only accumulation (of knowledge and experience)," Chow expressed, inspiring the audience with his wisdom. Drawing from his iconic role as Li Mubai in the Oscar-winning martial arts film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (2000), Chow shared a profound line: "There is nothing inside if you clench your fists tightly, but you have everything if you release your hands." This poignant message resonated deeply with the young minds present, emphasizing the importance of openness and adaptability in life.

Chow Yun Fat's unwavering commitment to attending the talk despite his injuries left a lasting impression on the students, serving as a living example of resilience and determination. His journey from a dedicated actor to a role model for young individuals seeking inspiration serves as a testament to the adage that life's challenges can pave the way for great success. The students left the event feeling motivated and empowered, equipped with the knowledge that perseverance, hard work, and a sense of responsibility can lead to extraordinary achievements.
