Honor Magic 9 Pro Max Specs

The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max is currently their top-of-the-line model in the Magic 9 series, which focuses on mobile filmmaking. One of its biggest highlights is its camera system co-engineered with ARRI, the German company known for its professional cinema cameras used in film production.
The flagship smartphone has just launched in Hong Kong. Based on their spec sheet, the Magic 9 Pro Max features a 6.8-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 10,000 nits and up to 4320Hz PWM dimming.
Under the hood, the device runs on Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.
The biggest highlight is its ARRI co-engineered camera system, featuring dual 200MP rear cameras. The primary camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.57 aperture and gimbal-level optical image stabilisation. This is accompanied by a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom.
There’s also a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide-angle camera, while the front gets a 55MP selfie camera.
Beyond the camera hardware, Honor has worked with ARRI to bring its cinema colour science to the Magic 9 Pro Max. This includes an ARRI LogC3 video processing pipeline, which aims to deliver smoother highlight roll-off, more detailed shadows and natural colour transitions.
The phone also offers 87 official ARRI Looks, allowing users to apply different cinematic colour treatments to their footage. There’s also a cinematic Live Photo feature which captures three-second clips in 4K resolution, with support for an ultra-wide 2.39:1 cinematic aspect ratio.
To support its imaging capabilities, Honor has equipped the device with a dedicated H1 imaging chip built on a 6nm process. The chip handles RAW-domain noise reduction to preserve more image details, particularly in challenging lighting conditions.
For audio recording, the Magic 9 Pro Max comes with a built-in directional microphone system which Honor claims can capture sounds from up to 20 metres away. It combines directional and omnidirectional microphones to improve audio pickup when recording videos.

If you want to take your zooming further, Honor also offers optional G200 and G500 teleconverter lenses, providing equivalent focal lengths of 200mm and 500mm respectively. There’s also a professional video cage developed with SmallRig for mounting filmmaking accessories.
In the battery department, the Hong Kong version of the Magic 9 Pro Max packs an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery which supports 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging. As a comparison, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max in mainland China comes with a larger 8,800mAh unit.
The device also features Honor’s C3 RF enhancement chip for improved connectivity, stereo speakers, and IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. On the software front, the phone also offers Honor Connect for transferring files and connecting with supported Apple devices.
In Hong Kong, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max is offered in two RAM and storage configurations:
- 12GB RAM + 512GB storage – HKD 10,999 (about RM5,673)
- 16GB RAM + 1TB storage – HKD 14,999 (about RM7,736)
The smartphone is available in three colours: Moss Green, Glacier Silver and Shadow Black.
Stay tuned as Honor Malaysia will be dropping more clues as we get closer to the local launch.
