Chinese New Year film: “A Life of Kaya”
Fun and games aside, this is a must-watch heartwarming and inspiring Chinese New Year film that tells the true story of a mother who worked hard to provide for her family by selling homemade kaya. Hong Leong Bank’s film, titled “A Life of Kaya,” follows the journey of ‘Kayapo’ who sold homemade kaya at Petaling Street in the 1980s and eventually built a legacy spanning three generations.
Kayapo’s business not only provided for her family but also brought joy to the community. Although she has since retired, many remember her from the market. Now her son manages the business, shaping it to become a modern and fully-operational shop in Sekinchan, the place where Kayapo grew up.
“A Life of Kaya” is not just a story about a business, it’s a story of a mother’s love and sacrifice for her family. It’s a reminder of the hard work that goes into making a better life for ourselves and those we love. This film is a must-watch!
