LABUAN: A former independent candidate here hopes a new political party called “Parti Impian Sabah” will not end living up to its name of “dreaming” or “wishing” than making any impact in the coming election.

Lau Seng Kiat, the only Independent candidate here for the MP seat who managed to garner several thousand votes in the past, said it may even end up doing worse than Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) whose candidates contested all seats but all also lost their deposits.

“Based on my own experience and Sabah’s history unless the newcomer joins forces with an established party its candidates will likely lose their deposits like PCS,” said Lau, now an activist.

He said even if the newcomers may offer a rosy manifesto and make interesting pledges it is not easy to convince voters.
