Hosaka returns to GCG as commissioner

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Independent Commission for Infrastructure executive director Brian Keith Hosaka as commissioner of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG).

Hosaka took his oath as GCG commissioner in a ceremony presided over by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in Malacañang on Wednesday.

He returned to GCG after serving for six months as executive director and spokesman of the ICI, an independent body tasked to investigate irregularities in flood control projects.

Hosaka, a lawyer, also served as assistant court administrator and chief of the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court from 2019 to 2023, leading the modernization efforts to improve information drive about the high court and its activities.

Before his designation to the high court, he was a founding partner of the Paner Hosaka & Ypil Attorneys-at-Law.

Hosaka also served as deputy general counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

Also on Wednesday, Recto administered the oath of office of former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog as undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Mabilog was previously accused by former president Rodrigo Duterte of being involved in the illegal drug trade, prompting him to leave the country in 2017.

Mabilog returned to the Philippines in 2024 to clear his name. He was granted a pardon by Marcos in 2025.
