KUALA LUMPUR — Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA) has terminated a MySTEP personnel officer following allegations of a fraud scheme that reportedly defrauded 190 medical officers-in-training of RM47,120.
In a statement, HTA management said the decisive action was accompanied by a complete restriction of the individual’s access to the hospital’s systems and facilities, ensuring the security of sensitive data, departmental integrity, and the welfare of the doctors involved.
“HTA emphasises that no cash collections or transfers to personal accounts of staff are permitted for any official matters, including reimbursement of emoluments or course fees.
“The MySTEP personnel in question was never authorised to handle financial matters on behalf of HTA,” the statement read.
The hospital added that engagement sessions were conducted with affected medical officers to hear their complaints and gather detailed transaction records to aid the ongoing investigation.
“The matter has been reported to the police, and a full investigation is underway. HTA will cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure a transparent and fair process,” the statement read.
HTA reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, underlining that any employee found engaging in integrity breaches or criminal activities that compromise the welfare of colleagues or the reputation of the Health Ministry (MOH) will face strict action.
“HTA consistently prioritises the well-being of its staff in delivering quality healthcare to the public. We greatly value the dedication of our medical officers-in-training, who serve tirelessly and will not allow the hospital’s integrity to be tarnished by irresponsible actions of any individual,” the statement added.
According to reports by The Health Policy Portal CodeBlue, the administrative assistant allegedly defrauded at least 187 house officers at HTA since September 2023. - April 4, 2026
