All eyes are on Negeri Sembilan today as voters head to the polls, with caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun remaining optimistic about Pakatan Harapan’s chances of retaining the state.
PH confident about winning more than 19 seats
According to The Rakyat Post, Aminuddin said PH remained confident of securing more than 19 seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
He made the remarks after casting his vote at Institut Perguruan Raja Melewar in Sikamat earlier today.
Aminuddin said he had personally reviewed all the constituencies contested by PH the night before and found encouraging signs across the areas.
Says predictions do not reflect the ground
Despite several predictions suggesting that PH could lose the state, Aminuddin said the coalition’s election machinery remained committed and motivated.
He also dismissed the projections as analyses that were not necessarily based on the actual situation and voter sentiment on the ground.
The PH Negeri Sembilan chairman reiterated that he believed the coalition could surpass the 19 seat mark needed to form a simple majority in the 36 seat state assembly.
Ilham Centre predicts BN and PN victory
Aminuddin, who is contesting the Linggi seat, arrived at the polling station at about 8.30am. He was responding to a report published the day before which predicted that PH could lose the state election to BN and PN.
According to The Rakyat Post, Ilham Centre predicted that BN and PN could win 22 of the 36 state seats, which would give them enough seats to form the Negeri Sembilan government. PH is contesting all 36 seats, while PN is contesting 11 and its election partner BN is contesting the remaining 25.
The BN and PN partnership has also raised questions about their relationship at the federal level.
