MANILA, Philippines — Voting 29-1, the House of Representatives' Committee on Justice on Wednesday ruled to subpoena the alleged bagman of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Ramil Madriaga will be required to appear before the committee to testify and produce his affidavit dated Nov. 29, 2025 "and any other evidence in his possession."

Voting 35-1, the committee granted the motion of Akbayan Rep. Chel Diokno to provide protection for Madriaga.

Diokno said his motion was for the committee to "make sure that there is additional security provided to Madriaga in his present place of detention by the National Bureau of Investigation.” Madriaga was detained over a kidnapping case.

The committee on Wednesday started the hearing on the two icomplaints against Duterte to determine probable cause to impeach her.
