In HBO’s House of the Dragon, the civil war between two rival factions within the Targaryens, known as Dance of the Dragons, has begun in earnest. We saw a massive battle earlier in the season and doubtless, there will be more before the season ends. Although the latest episode is not as action-heavy, it holds portents for what seems like a bloody future for the Targaryens and Seven Kingdoms. Like Game of Thrones, HotD is also based on the world created by fantasy author George R. R. Martin. A spinoff and a prequel series, it is set two centuries before the events of GoT. Here is the entire release schedule for House of the Dragon season 2, including episode 5.

What happens in House of the Dragon‘s latest episode?
In the fifth episode of House of the Dragon season 2, titled “Regent”, we are shown the aftermath of the dragon battle at Rook’s Rest. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) is still at Dragonstone, though she longs to venture out and fight her war for herself. She is also heartbroken after Rhaenys’ death. She and her eldest son Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) discuss seeking Dragonseeds (people who have Valyrian blood in them) who could potentially be dragonriders since there are dragons like Vermithor beneath the castle.
Rhaenys Targaryen’s (Eve Best) dragon Meleys’ decapitated head is paraded around the streets of the King’s Landing. King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) is alive but more than half of his body is charred and he still may not survive. Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) is made regent, despite Alicent Hightower’s (Olivia Cooke) protests. Daemon Targarne (Matt Smith) is still struggling to gather an army at Harrenhal. He threatens the Brackens with dragonfire, but they respond they would rather burn than ally with the Blackwoods. Daemon is also plagued with strange and disturbing visions.
