MANILA, Philippines —The House of Representatives approved House Bill 8389 or the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Act I second reading through a voice vote.
A statement from Speaker Faustino Dy's office said the bill sought to prohibit relatives by blood or affinity within the second degree from holding or running for an elective position in the same national, provincial, city, town, or barangay (village) government, or from seeking House posts within the same district.
The measure is top priority under the Marcos administration.
