KOTA BELUD: Sixteen residents lost their home when a fire destroyed a two-storey house in Kampung Labuan here at 3pm on Wednesday.

There were no injuries or fatalities reported.

Kota Belud District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Elgie Bakuk, said the department received an emergency call at 3.06pm and seven personnel were dispatched to the scene with one fire engine and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle.

“The flames spread rapidly, but all 16 residents, including two young children escaped unharmed.

But property and some important documents belonging to the residents could not be saved, he said.

Elgie the firemen prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

“The operation concluded at 6.26pm, while the cause of fire and losses are still under investigation,” he said.
