THE House of Representatives will speed up the passage of 36 remaining Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac) priority bills when it resumes session on Monday, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos said.
“Many of us believe that service delayed is also service denied. If the administration thinks the country needs these measures to become law, then we will work with dispatch to enact them into laws so people can already enjoy their benefits,” Marcos said in a statement on Sunday.
“We know that the laws that have something to do with food, education and health are the easiest to measure in the daily lives of people, so we will put in double effort on those,” he said.
On agriculture and food security, Marcos highlighted as key priorities the proposed changes to the Rice Tariffication Law, proposed changes to the Fisheries Code, and proposed amendments to the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act.
He also cited pending amendments to the Universal Health Care Act as among the reforms the House aims to push forward.
Marcos mentioned the Classroom-Building Acceleration Program measure, proposed changes to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, and proposed changes to the Local Government Code on special education fund as part of the priority track in the House, alongside other measures, according to the statement.
On social welfare, he singled out the proposed changes to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Act and proposed changes to the Masustansyang Pagkain Para sa Batang Pilipino Act as measures that the House intended to advance.
