The German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1721-1804) said, “Science is organised knowledge. Wisdom is organised life.” Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge, but what we do with knowledge is a different matter. That mere difference creates controversies, friction, acrimony, confusion, and anxiety over “following the science”.

I have learned after a rigorous peer-review process on the manuscript related to Sejahtera Leadership Initiative, titled “The Way of Creation, Nature and Life: Physics and Mathematics Perspectives" aptly written by UM Quantum Physicist & Scientist, Prof Dr. C. H. Raymond Ooi. He explained, “The scientific method is a process for collecting knowledge in an organised and repeated manner, thus allowing one to draw conclusions with some level of certainty or uncertainty. Science is not stagnant or absolute or perfect. It is not the end." He has the rare ability to take complicated scientific theories and turn them into readable tales for a layman.

Scientist Prof Raymond added that “With organised knowledge, one with wisdom can live a more organised life. Science has a positive impact on our life, making it at least somewhat predictable and reliable. We need knowledge for this purpose. This is the path we must agree to follow as scientists to gain true wisdom.”

A Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia since 2015, Scientist Prof Raymond earned his doctorate degree in 2003 from Universitaet Konstanz, Germany, in the field of quantum optics and atomic physics; Master in Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and BSc from the Universiti Sains Malaysia. He sits on the Board of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative and is passionate about spiritual science philosophy of nature and humanistic quantum theory.

We live in exciting times. Science and technology do not stand still but are opening up worlds to us that we could previously only dream about. When looking at the future of quantum physics, with all its challenges, dangers and wisdom, we will discover more about nature in the coming decades than in all human history combined many times. All the technological revolutions are leading to a single point: the creation of a planetary civilisation. Perhaps, the transition is the greatest!
