- More than 1,300 excess deaths have occurred across Europe since 21 June amid an unprecedented heatwave, the head of the World Health Organisation said.
- France alone recorded at least 1,000 additional deaths in just three days, with roughly 85 per cent of these involving people aged 65 and above.
