Whether you drink coffee to jump-start your day or just because you enjoy it, the habit has some real health benefits, including for your heart and brain. But too much caffeine—more than 400 mg per day, per the Food and Drug Administration—can lead to jitters, sleep troubles, headache, upset stomach, and more. That’s why it’s important to know how much caffeine you’re getting in each cup. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell: Packaged coffees generally don’t list their caffeine content on the label.
