- Udhyam Amin, 64, from Surrey, developed life-threatening sepsis and multi-organ failure after contracting campylobacter food poisoning from a pub roast chicken dinner.
- Doctors at St Helier Hospital in south London placed Mr Amin in an induced coma for over two weeks and warned his family he had only hours to live following a cardiac arrest.
- In a recovery described by his family as a miracle, Mr Amin relearnt how to walk and speak before fully recovering and returning to work.
- Mr Amin's family has raised £37,000 for the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity to support the intensive care team that saved his life.
- He is sharing his story to express gratitude to the medical staff and raise awareness of the risks of sepsis ahead of World Sepsis Day on 13 September.
