  • Heat contributes to the loss of over 8,450 healthy life years annually in Australia, and this figure could rise by almost 50 per cent by 2050 as the climate changes.
  • Young people (15-44) are particularly vulnerable to heat-related mental health impacts.
  • Effective adaptation measures, such as improved housing and early warning systems, could significantly mitigate the projected increase, researchers say.
