The Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM) has revealed that a staggering RM13.3 billion in Unclaimed Money (Wang Tak Dituntut - WTD) has been recorded as of April 2025. Despite ongoing campaigns and outreach efforts, public response remains relatively low, with only about RM4 billion claimed since the system was first introduced in 1977.

Accountant General Nor Yati Ahmad stated that many Malaysians might be unaware that they are entitled to unclaimed money or have never checked their status with JANM.

“They can check or submit claims via the official portal or the eGumis mobile application, or by visiting any JANM branch across the country,” she explained during the Kampung Angkat MADANI (KAM) event at Sekolah Kebangsaan Minyak Beku, Johor.

As JANM continues its awareness campaigns, including mobile programs in rural areas, the public is strongly encouraged to take a few minutes to check whether any unclaimed money is rightfully theirs.
