The world has the habit of making room for the man whose actions show that he knows where he is going ~ Napoleon Hill
We all had that experience of waking up in the morning with the intention to accomplish a certain task. Instead, our energy, try as we want, sometimes will not co-operate with our intention. At times, we feel overwhelmed with too many tasks in hand. By noon, disillusion sets in and we just go through the motion waiting for the day to be over. In whichever direction our days are spent, we are often dissatisfied by the end of the day which further zap our energy and pride.
Our energy is precious; just like the fuel in our vehicle, if we channel it towards the right purpose, we get the desired result. Conversely, engaging with our erratic mind and emotions squanders our energy as well as scatter our focus.
Once you learn to quit, it becomes a Habit ~ Vince Lombardi
Understanding how our mind works is essential. When our mind is not ‘hooked’ on a target or a goal, it will go on a ‘free ride’; it will swing from one objective to another not knowing which to focus on, subsequently affecting our emotion and we feel restless. Our mind is like a toddler that needs a toy to keep busy and so we need to give our mind a target or a goal to hold on to.
If we are serious to get the best out of each day, we need to know what needs to be done beforehand and establish it’s flow. These will quieten our mind as it has something to ‘hold on to’.
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread ~ Alexander Pope
Our parents have established our morning routine since we were young; to brush our teeth, morning bath, get dressed, among others. Yet, many a time, we rush through our morning routine.
We are not at our best when we have to frantically rush with morning routine, our tasks or appointments; our body and mind simply gets agitated. Consequently, we experience stress, anxiety and depression; these will affect our memory, focus and ruin our day.
Waking up early in the morning gives us the time to do our daily routine in a leisurely manner.

Waking Up During Brahma Muhurta: Edited-Source: https://ask.nithyananda.ai
How we rise in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. We need to establish a consistent bedtime routine that allows us to get sufficient rest.
In Sanatana Hindu Dharma which is rooted in Vedic tradition, waking up during Brahma Muhurta; a Sanskrit term that translates to “time of Brahma” or “Creator’s Hour” is not just about rising early; it’s about embracing a lifestyle that fosters health, clarity, and spiritual growth.
Brahma Muhurta occurs approximately one and a half hours before dawn, specifically during the two muhurtas (each lasting forty-eight minutes). Therefore, to wake up during Brahma Muhurta, aim to rise before 4:30 AM.
Waking up during Brahma Muhurta helps align our biological clock and enhances our overall well-being. It is believed that this time is filled with high levels of prana (vital life energy), making it ideal for spiritual practices. Additionally, during this period, pollution levels are at their lowest, allowing for a purer environment to start our day.

Even if we are not spiritually inclined, use this period to ponder on our inner growth, set the tone for the day or workout. It is not a coincidence that most successful entrepreneurs, CEOs and billionaires wake up before 6am. However, it is best not to squander this period of time with meaningless task such as scrolling through the social media, reading the news or daydreaming; these types of unproductive activities agitates our mind and emotion.
Capitalise this period of time by tackling high priority tasks, making crucial decisions for our individual growth, chart our day or plan a structured schedule.
Waking up early is a mindset ~ Gee
Being Optimistic
When our morning routine is established in a leisurely manner, the work-stress connection is broken. We will no longer associate work as a drudgery of life.
To improve our morning routine further, we should choose to think, feel and speak in a positive manner. These itself will prime us psychologically to face the challenging dynamic of life. We will exhibit a better behaviour and be attentive towards others.
Being Consistent
Be sure to develop this routine consistently on a daily basis so as not to break the momentum.
Having a structured schedule and repetitively doing it on a daily basis will become an ingrained habits. In due course, our focus, energy and mind will be more centred towards the right directions.
Childhood Experiences
If all the above routine seems challenging and insurmountable, just look into the past when we were a child. We learned about the world through the lens of our parents. As a child we process information by watching how our parents respond to a given situation. If our parents are leading a chaotic lifestyle, naturally and unconsciously we adopt these as a belief.
As a child, if we watch our parents rush through the morning routine, being late for appointments and constantly hurrying us out of the door, feeling stressed and agitated; we will be influenced to do the same thing. We believe this is the concept of what mornings should look like and over the years it then becomes deeply ingrained as our own habit that we might find it hard to shake it off. Being aware of this fact is the first step to make us understand that this particular routine is not one of a productive lifestyle.
Every day you wake up is a new opportunity to make your own luck ~ Alisyn Camera
Now that we know there is a better habit to integrate in our lives, change it for the better. By taking control of our morning routine, we will improve in terms of productivity, relationships and our wellbeing. We will feel the stability to sail through life with clarity and achieving our goals will seem more attainable.
Additionally, organising our morning schedule is a way of breaking free from the past undesirable habits. We will begin to learn new habits starting with time management, prioritisation, the necessity to disconnect from meaningless tasks and prioritising our wellbeing.
These daily routine will compound into positive outlook in life which will lead us to succeed in our chosen field.
