How Tom Holland called the shots on set for forthcoming Spider-Man sequel

  • Tom Holland appears to have been calling the shots on set judging by his recent comments about Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day.
  • The 30-year-old, who plays Peter Parker, told GQ he had “a very uncomfortable conversation” with Sony about changing the Spider-Man filming dates so he could star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, where he will play Telemachus.
  • Holland went as far as to say that the change “saved” the film by allowing director Destin Daniel Cretton more time to “develop the script”.
  • Inspired by Nolan's meticulous approach, Holland said he demanded changes to the way Spider-Man’s sequel was made, adding: “It was just really great to constantly be calling up the studio and... be like, ‘Well, Chris is doing it this way. This is how I think we should be doing it.’”
  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in cinemas in July 2026.
