Sir Keir Starmer reacted like a supporter first after Arsenal finally ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
The UK Prime Minister has never hidden his Arsenal allegiance, and the club’s first league triumph since the Invincibles gave him the kind of moment generations of supporters had been waiting to see again.
His message was short, emotional, and very clearly written from the perspective of someone who has lived through the near-misses.

Keir Starmer celebrates Arsenal title drought ending
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer posted on X after Arsenal were confirmed as Premier League champions for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
Starmer wrote, “22 long years for the Arsenal. But finally, we’re back where we belong. Champions!”
The reaction carried extra weight because Starmer is a long-time Arsenal fan and season-ticket holder, not just a politician attaching himself to a winning moment.
He has spoken often about following the club, attending matches at the Emirates, and trying to keep that part of his routine alive despite the security demands that come with being Prime Minister.
The language was not polished political messaging, it was relief after more than two decades of watching the club chase the standard Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles left behind.
Arsenal finally end Premier League wait
Arsenal’s title was confirmed after Manchester City drew 1-1 at Bournemouth, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side four points clear with only one match left.
The Gunners entered the final weekend on 82 points from 37 games, having finally held off City after three straight seasons of finishing second. Arsenal had been close before, but this campaign finally showed the composure that had been missing in previous run-ins.
Arteta’s side built the title on defensive control, set-piece strength, and the leadership of Martin Odegaard, with David Raya’s Golden Glove-level season also giving the team a reliable base.
The race still had a familiar scare when City beat Arsenal 2-1 in April, but the Gunners responded instead of folding. Wins over Fulham, West Ham and Burnley kept the pressure on before City’s dropped points ended the chase.
For Starmer, the moment was personal because Arsenal’s drought covered nearly his entire modern life as a supporter. For the club, it was validation after years of rebuilds, doubts, and late-season pain.
