How Ukraine hit two Russian oil refineries in long-range attacks

  • Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv had struck two more oil facilities deep inside Russia, intensifying efforts to cripple Moscow's wartime economy.
  • The targeted facilities included a refinery in Bashkortostan, over 1,300 kilometres behind the eastern front line, and another in the Yaroslavl region.
  • Ukrainian forces also reportedly hit two Russian military patrol boats and vessels from Moscow’s 'shadow fleet' in the Black Sea.
  • Russia's Defence Ministry claimed its air defences shot down 605 Ukrainian drones overnight across several Russian regions, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.
  • Meanwhile, Russian drone and glide bomb attacks killed at least three civilians and wounded 22 in Ukraine, prompting Zelensky to urge allies for more vital air defence interceptors.
