- Irish musicians Hozier, Declan O’Rourke, Jerry Fish, and Imelda May are among those gathering in Dublin for the funeral of Glen Hansard.
- The frontman of Irish band The Frames died, aged 56, in a motorbike crash on the outskirts of the city last week.
- His funeral service is taking place at St Patrick’s Cathedral at 1.30pm on Tuesday.
- Hansard was widely renowned as a trailblazer and won a best original song Oscar in 2008 for the track ‘Falling Slowly’, which he co-wrote for the film Once with Marketa Irglova.
- Hansard was also an advocate for Dublin’s homeless community and founded an annual Christmas Eve charity busk, which saw famous Irish musicians perform to raise funds.
