Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) today announced the HPE Alletra 4000 family, representing the first server-based offering within the HPE Alletra portfolio of cloud-native data infrastructure solutions, architected to accelerate data-driven initiatives at any scale and with ideal economics.

HPE Alletra 4000 delivers the next generation of data storage servers previously built under the HPE Apollo 4000 brand, providing modern data infrastructure that is specifically built to keep pace with data demands securely, economically, and with operational simplicity. This empowers organisations to focus scarce people and capital resources on data-driven initiatives.

“In today’s data-driven world, enterprises are increasingly seeking to extract value from their data, but general-purpose data infrastructure is simply not designed for optimal data processing,” said Joseph Yang, Managing Director, HPE Singapore. “The new HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers are purpose-built for data applications, secured end-to-end by design, and delivered with an intuitive cloud experience. They will empower enterprises to accelerate data-driven initiatives to drive innovation and business outcomes.”

Built for data applications
With HPE Alletra 4000, organisations can now extract the business value of data at any scale, and with ideal economics, via data storage servers optimised across multiple dimensions: capacity, performance, economics, density, serviceability, and supportability. Powered by 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers accommodate both ends of the data-centric workload spectrum – from deeper data lakes and archives to high-throughput and in-place analytics and AI/ML, data-heavy hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), and cache-intensive workloads.

Applicable uses cases include real-time data processing, ransomware protection, compliance and e-discovery, video surveillance, medical imaging, machine learning training and inferencing, stream and batch analytics, ready-to-share content repositories, consolidation and data off-load, and more.

Secured end-to-end by design
With HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers, organisations can benefit from end-to-end security for their systems and data. This starts with HPE helping secure the supply chain and extends from boot-up to decommissioning of the system. From silicon to software and factory to cloud, HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers are engineered with zero trust security at their uncompromising core and provide integrated, scalable IT security and increased business agility.

Delivered with an intuitive cloud experience
HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers can be easily managed on the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform via HPE GreenLake for Compute Ops Management. Delivered with an intuitive cloud experience, HPE Alletra 4000 enables organisations to leverage REST APIs to automate otherwise complex management operations.

HPE Alletra 4000 systems can also be consumed as a service with HPE GreenLake to shorten project deployment times, free up capital and IT resources, align spending with business needs, and boost both financial flexibility and operational speed.

Choose from two models: HPE Alletra 4110 and HPE Alletra 4120
The Alletra 4110 is a 1U all-NVMe data storage server featuring dual 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and up to 3TB DDR5 memory. It is designed for the most performance-demanding data-centric workloads, including data stores for machine learning, distributed and NoSQL databases, high-performance software-defined storage, and data-heavy hyper-converged infrastructure.

The Alletra 4120 is a 2U hybrid-NMVe data storage server featuring one or two 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and up to 6TB DDR5 memory. It takes on the broadest range of data-centric workloads, spanning active analytics data lakes, software-defined storage, converged data protection, and deep archives.

Capacity and performance
HPE Alletra 4000 systems support Enterprise and Data Center Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) and SFF solid-state drives (SSDs). In addition, HPE Alletra 4120 supports SAS/SATA LFF drives for higher density and capacity.

  • HPE Alletra 4110 – Up to 20 EDSFF or SFF NVMe SSDs with up to 315 GB/s of PCIe Gen5 bandwidth for the SSDs
  • HPE Alletra 4120 – Up to 24 LFF drives in front with 4 LFF, 12 EDSFF or 6 SFF drives in the rear, or up to 48 SFF drives in front with 12 EDSFF, or 6 SFF drives in the rear; up to 225.6 GB/s of bandwidth to PCIe Gen5 NVMe, 24 Gb SAS, or 6 Gb SATA drives.

Additional highlights
Both HPE Alletra 4110 and HPE Alletra 4120 offer GPU and FPGA support to accelerate many different workloads. They also provide security with a physical bezel lock, logical Configuration Lock, Secure Boot, FIPS 140-2 Smart Encryption and Self-Encrypting Drives, and Secure Erase.

HPE Integrated Lights Out 6 (iLO 6) extends the hardware root of trust from protecting server firmware to now also protecting select storage and network controller firmware. In addition, a 5-

factor authentication model ensures the secure connection of devices to the HPE GreenLake Cloud Platform while AES-256 encryption secures customer data within it.
