Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and CelcomDigi Berhad have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen digital talent development, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, 5G and cloud technologies.

Announced in Petaling Jaya on 3 November 2026, the collaboration will provide CelcomDigi employees with access to advanced technology training, leadership development programmes and industry-recognised professional certifications through Huawei's global learning ecosystem.

The partnership aims to equip employees with the technical knowledge and digital capabilities needed to support business innovation, operational improvements and the telecommunications industry's ongoing transformation.

Under the agreement, both companies will develop learning pathways that combine emerging technologies with practical industry applications, while offering opportunities for continuous professional development across CelcomDigi's workforce.

Three-Year Partnership Focuses on AI, Data Analytics, 5G and Cloud Technologies

The collaboration will focus on developing digital capabilities in four key technology areas: AI, data analytics, 5G and cloud computing.

CelcomDigi employees will gain exposure to emerging technologies, industry applications and innovation frameworks that can be applied to business operations and digital transformation initiatives.

The programme will also provide opportunities to obtain globally recognised Huawei certifications at associate, professional and expert levels, allowing participating employees to develop and demonstrate their technical competencies.

Beyond technical training, the initiative includes executive digital leadership development and learning activities designed to help employees understand how technology can support business growth.

These programmes will draw on Huawei's global training resources and experience in developing digital skills, with learning activities tailored to CelcomDigi's organisational requirements.

Huawei Malaysia to Co-Develop Business-Aligned Training

Simon Sun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia, said the agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two companies while placing greater emphasis on developing employees' capabilities.

"Talent is the cornerstone of digital transformation. We are glad to deepen our long-standing partnership with CelcomDigi through this MoU. Drawing on our established global learning practices and proven talent development framework, Huawei Malaysia will co-design practical, business-aligned learning covering executive digital leadership, business growth enablement, enterprise-wide industrial certification and digital transformation ecosystem development. Together, we will translate global best practices into tangible organisational capabilities for CelcomDigi, unlock internal transformation momentum and jointly fuel Malaysia’s sustainable digital development."

The planned training will cover both technical knowledge and leadership capabilities, enabling employees to develop skills relevant to their roles while supporting CelcomDigi's broader business objectives.

By incorporating professional certifications into the programme, the partnership will also provide structured opportunities for employees to develop their expertise at different stages of their careers.

CelcomDigi Prioritises Continuous Learning and Digital Innovation

Albern Murty, Chief Executive Officer of CelcomDigi, emphasised the importance of continuous learning as technology continues to transform industries and customer expectations.

"As technology continues to redefine industries, competitive advantage will increasingly be shaped by an organisation's ability to learn, adapt and innovate faster than the pace of change. Building these capabilities requires sustained investment in people. At CelcomDigi, we are building a workforce that can thrive in today’s digital economy while helping shape the opportunities of tomorrow. Through this partnership with Huawei Malaysia, we are strengthening the leadership, digital fluency and innovation capabilities."

The initiative is intended to support CelcomDigi's efforts to build a workforce capable of adapting to technological developments and applying new skills across its operations.

As AI, cloud computing and advanced connectivity become more widely adopted, the company aims to provide employees with access to learning opportunities that support both individual career development and organisational transformation.

MoU Builds on Huawei and CelcomDigi's Existing Collaboration

The latest agreement extends a longstanding collaboration between Huawei Malaysia and CelcomDigi that has previously involved leadership programmes, professional certification initiatives, large-scale learning engagements and technology-sharing sessions.

The MoU signing was also attended by Terry He, President of Huawei Asia Pacific, and Azmi Ujang, Chief Human Resources Officer of CelcomDigi.

Through the new three-year arrangement, both organisations intend to expand their cooperation in talent development by establishing more structured learning pathways and introducing employees to practical applications of emerging technologies.

The partnership forms part of their efforts to strengthen digital expertise within Malaysia's telecommunications industry and support the development of a workforce equipped to participate in the country's evolving digital economy.
