Huawei Watch GT 7 and Watch GT 7 Pro: Diabetes Risk Study and smarter sports tracking, from RM1,199

Huawei has officially launched the Watch GT 7 Series in Malaysia, comprising the Watch GT 7 Pro alongside the standard Watch GT 7 in 46mm and 41mm sizes. This year’s lineup brings several upgrades to health monitoring, sports tracking and outdoor navigation, along with a bright AMOLED display and long battery life.

Starting with the top-end model, the Watch GT 7 Pro pairs a nano-tech ceramic bezel with a titanium alloy frame and sapphire glass. It comes in Yellow, Green and Black, while its AMOLED display reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The watch also carries IP69 dust resistance and 5 ATM water resistance.

The headline addition for Malaysian users is the Diabetes Risk Study, a Huawei-exclusive research initiative led by Universiti Malaya. It uses pulse-wave signals from the watch’s PPG sensor, together with details such as age, gender, height and weight, to assess potential diabetes risk after three to 14 days of continuous wear. Huawei stresses that the feature is not intended to diagnose diabetes, but to raise awareness and encourage users to seek professional advice where needed.

On top of that, the Pro is the only model in the series with CE- and MDA-certified ECG and Arterial Stiffness Assessment. It also supports CE- and MDA-certified Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis and a new Physical Readiness Score that combines recovery, HRV, sleep, activity and emotional wellbeing into a single daily assessment.

For outdoor activities, Huawei’s AI-XDR Positioning combines GNSS with onboard sensors to maintain route tracking when GPS signals drop, while Smart Route Reconstruction estimates missing sections of a route. Trail runners and hikers also get Segment Navigation, Route Back, offline maps, GPX route import and Strava integration.

The Pro gets a few extra sports features, including Plays-like Distance and Shot Distance for golf, freediving down to 40 metres and additional cycling tools. Dedicated Tennix, PickleX and Goodshot apps can also track racket sports such as tennis, pickleball and badminton.

Battery life is rated at up to 21 days under light use. Touch ’n Go QR Payment is supported, and the watch works with both Android and iOS.

Huawei Watch GT 7

The standard Watch GT 7 is available in 46mm and 41mm sizes. The 46mm version comes in Yellow, Blue and Black, while the 41mm model is offered in Pink, Blue, White and Grey. Both feature an AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, IP69 dust resistance and 5 ATM water resistance.

The GT 7 also supports the Universiti Malaya-led Diabetes Risk Study, Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis and Physical Readiness Score, but misses out on the Pro’s ECG and Arterial Stiffness Assessment.

Most of the outdoor and sports features carry over from the Pro, including AI-XDR Positioning, Smart Route Reconstruction, trail running and hiking tools, cycling features and racket sports apps. However, golf and freediving features remain exclusive to the Pro.

Battery life reaches up to 21 days on the 46mm model and 14 days on the 41mm under light use. Touch ’n Go QR Payment and Android and iOS compatibility are included as well.

Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro and Watch GT Pricing

The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro is available now at RM1,499, while the Watch GT 7 retails at RM1,199. As part of the launch, buyers are eligible for an RM100 rebate until 31 October 2026, plus 10% off with SPayLater. Huawei is also throwing in free gifts worth up to RM713, including the EasyCross Strap, Huawei FreeBuds SE 2, three months of Huawei Health+, one month of Watch Face Membership, a one-year Worry-Free Care Package and a one-year APAC warranty.
