Cosmetics entrepreneur Dato’ Aliff Syukri is not only known for occasionally producing controversial content during festive occasions, but also for his considerable amount of wealth.

Given that, many were rather surprised when he made a confession about how he had miscalculated the costs when it came to upkeeping the house he had built for himself.

‘I didn’t know maintenance would be high’

Taking to his Instagram to share his inner turmoil, Aliff said he got too caught up in the heat of the moment and had failed to consider the high maintenance costs that came with constructing a large house.

Back then, when I decided to build this house, I only thought about the excitement and didn’t consider the maintenance. But after living in it, I realised the cost of maintaining a big house is no joke, especially when it comes to repairs.

“Every year, I have to allocate hundreds of thousands (of Ringgit) just for repairs, especially now that the house is aging,” he lamented.

Aliff then advised those who were looking to move into a house equally as big as his to always count the cost beforehand.

“Please be prepared for the maintenance costs. The bigger the house, the higher the expenses, especially when it gets older and requires more repairs.”

Suggestions from netizens

In the comment thread, several netizens had various ideas for Aliff on how he could pay for maintenance costs without breaking the bank.

Some said he should have rented a home instead of constructing one himself, while others suggested that he invite his family to move into the house so that the cost could be shared out.

Another netizen suggested that Aliff rent the empty rooms inside the house to travelers looking for accommodation.
