- An endangered female dusky shark named Bukang-i has been successfully guided out of a canal in Busan, South Korea, following an eight-hour rescue operation.
- The three-metre-long shark had drawn more than 1.6 million visitors since entering the artificial waterway on 18 September, becoming a major public attraction.
- Rescue teams used floating nets, divers, and drones during their third attempt after two previous efforts to clear the animal from the canal failed.
- Concerns had mounted over the shark's health after experts observed snout and fin injuries alongside fears of starvation and dropping water temperatures.
- Although Bukang-i reached the mouth of the canal near a pier, authorities are continuing to monitor her in the hope she swims further into open waters.
