Huge drone attack on Moscow leaves one dead and oil facility damaged

  • At least one person has died after Ukraine launched over 650 drones at the Moscow region overnight in what is believed to be the largest aerial attack on the Russian capital in two years.
  • A major Russian oil facility was struck, leading to a fire at the Volodarsk Linear Production and Dispatch Center near the village of Konstantinovo.
  • The attack follows Ukraine's claim that it has neutralised more than half of Russia's oil refining capacity to disrupt funding for Vladimir Putin's war effort.
  • Kyiv has maintained strikes on Russian energy infrastructure despite objections from US president Donald Trump, who blamed Ukraine for high American gas prices.
  • Volodymyr Zelensky indicated he is prepared to halt strikes on energy targets if Moscow reciprocates and demonstrates a willingness to end its invasion.
