The future of higher education relies on a symbiotic human-AI model where algorithms manage personalization. administration, and data analytics, while human educators focus on mentorship, emotional intelligence, and advanced critical thinking. Universities are shifting from rote memorization to building core AI literacy across all disciplines. As AI threatens to disrupt both work & the workforce, higher institution of learning faces the challenge of embracing technology while retaining a human touch. The next shifts, which will determine how students & the workforce operate in an AI-powered world, has the potential to be larger still. It's going to be bigger than the industrial revolution. It will completely change the way we live and work. Generative AI is fast moving from pilots to the academic core. Expert panels, sector surveys see durable effects on teaching models, student support & institutional operations.

In his keynote address at the 2-day international conference on "Human-AI Futures in Higher Education: Reimaging Teaching, Learning and Assessment in the Age of Generative AI", entitled “The Pervasive Influence of AI in the University Ecosystem: Impact on Ethics & Integrity”, the former Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Anuwar Ali who is currently Academic Advisor, Meritus University, KL & Advisory Panel, Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) said, “The need for balancing between AI applications and safeguarding fundamental academic values based on effective guidelines of AI ethics by cultivating a culture of ethical AI usage.” The conference was organized by First City University College in PJ.

I agree with Tan Sri Anuwar on his concerns of institutional and ethical challenges. The skills erosion due to over-reliance on automation risks diminishing deep reading, creative problem-solving, and independent thought. I realized predictive analytics help flag at-risk students early, though inconsistent teach adoption can widen digital divides. As such, educators at campuses must actively teach students how algorithms influence learning habits and worldview.
