
BEIRUT, Feb 6 — Hundreds were killed in Syria following a deadly earthquake in Turkey early today, with authorities registering a second quake later in the day.
Syrian state media reported that at least 371 people were killed and 1089 were injured citing a senior health official. The toll reported by state media is thought to include only those living in government-held areas.
The death toll in Syria’s opposition-held northwest also rose to 211 and 419 others injured, the White Helmets rescue team said in a tweet. — Reuters
